Life-Savers in the Making: Orlando Medical Institute’s Elite Paramedic Training Program
At Orlando Medical Institute, our Paramedic Program is an intensive and comprehensive 1,110-hour training course spread over 48 weeks, encompassing classroom activities, hands-on labs, and real-world clinical internships. Through this program, you will develop the skills needed to take command during emergencies, performing life-saving procedures while transporting patients to the hospital. As a paramedic, you may administer medications and carry out certain invasive procedures on site, essentially becoming the vital “hands” of emergency physicians in critical situations.
In the realm of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency calls typically fall into two categories: medical or trauma situations. Medical calls often involve conditions like heart attacks, severe allergic reactions, childbirth, and shock-related complications. Paramedics are trained to administer a wide range of medications to stabilize patients en route to the hospital. Trauma calls, on the other hand, usually stem from accidents or physical injuries, such as car crashes, falls, altercations, and sports injuries.
Given the rise in mass casualty incidents, paramedics are increasingly collaborating with police and other emergency agencies to effectively triage and treat multiple critically injured patients in hazardous environments. This program will prepare you to respond to such high-pressure scenarios, equipping you with the expertise to make a significant impact when seconds count.

Discover the Future of EMS Education:
Orlando Medical Institute’s Flexible Flipped Classroom Approach
At Orlando Medical Institute, our Paramedic program embraces the innovative flipped classroom methodology. This approach allows students the flexibility to watch lectures from the comfort of their home or to attend and engage in live classroom sessions with their instructors. Just like our EMT flipped program, our Paramedic flipped classroom model revolves around core content learning at home, followed by engaging, application-level activities in the classroom to reinforce and contextualize what was learned. Evidence from a variety of disciplines highlights the improved student learning outcomes in a flipped classroom setting, a testament to our commitment to providing cutting-edge, effective EMS education.
The City of Apopka Fire Department/Orlando Medical Institute Consortia for Paramedic Education program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self-Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the National Registry’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s). However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.
